Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS)

Provides tenant-based rental assistance for low-income families  trying to become self-sufficient.  Coordinates access to job training and other services, including child care and transportation.  Participants are required to seek and maintain employment or attend school or job training.  As participants increase their earned income and pay a larger share of the rent, HUD matches the rent increase with money in an escrow account, which is then awarded to participants who successfully complete the program.  Participants often use this money as part of a down payment on a house or to help start a business.

For more details, click here.
