NEW DESIGNATION FOR HOUSING AUTHORITY:
The Housing
Authority of the County of Santa Clara has recently been designated as a
Moving to Work Agency. This change in our status will give us the
flexibility to alter certain HUD rules to better serve local needs.
On August
19, 2008, the Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority of the
County of Santa Clara approved two changes to the agency’s
Administrative Plan related to our approved Moving to Work Annual Plan.
The changes
in the policy affect only certain Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher
families and relate to a decrease in the frequency of regularly
scheduled reexaminations and unit inspections. These families will be
mailed a flyer outlining the changes.

11-7-06 Change in scheduling
re-check inspections:
In order to comply with HUD
regulations (24 CFR 982.404), we have shortened our timeline for
conducting certain Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections of
Section 8 units. If a unit fails the annual HQS inspection, all repairs
must be completed within 20 calendar days from the inspection date. A
re-inspection appointment will be automatically scheduled with the
tenant approximately 25 calendar days from the date of the first
inspection in order to verify that the repairs have been completed.
HUD regulations also require that
HQS violations identified as “life-threatening” must be corrected within
24 hours of the inspection.
WOMAN LEADING CHANGE:

female parents find out how you can help yourself earn more and save
more.

ENERGY PARTNERS
PROGRAM:
Section 8 participants can take
advantage of the Energy Partners Program which provides qualified low-income
tenants free weatherization measures and energy-efficient appliances to reduce
gas and electricity usage.
